Our client is a industry leading contractor providing M&E services to a host of blue chip contractors. Having bee established for over 15 years they are recognised as a thought leading and innovative contractor. Primarily working in the commercial sector, they specialise in fast track fit out projects within offices.
They have had a successful 12 months, growing their client base and turnover, and are now looking for a Project Commercial Manager to working within the operations and commercial team.
Projects Commercial Manager (Electrical Bias) – London / High Wycombe – £70,000 + package
General Responsibilities:
Provide full commercial management across the business for all commercial and contractual requirements to minimise commercial and contractual risks and to provide an accurate standardised commercial reporting structure across all business operations.
Manage, co-ordinate and control all commercial matters relating to all Projects
To monitor commercial reporting and provide a robust governance and high-level analysis of project commercial performance
Ensure appropriate controls are in place to monitor all aspects of the project budgets to ensure maximum profitability and minimum liability.
To provide commercial assistance and advice on all matters of relating to the specific projects on behalf of the company and its Directors.
Ongoing role:
To attend internal project hand-over meetings for Major / Complex projects and agree the project delivery method with the Management team.
Understand all necessary commercial and financial details of projects, including but not limited to:
Contract terms
Details of technical submittal
Programme of works
Key milestone dates and phases
Hours of work
Custom equipment/bespoke components
Breakdown of materials and man-hours
Strategic justification of pricing policy used
Monitoring and forecasting the financial results of projects identifying trends and areas for improvement
Ensure commissioning managers are monitoring and controlling resource costs against agreed budgets
* Manage the engineers bonus system and monitor the efficiency and performances of all engineers.
* Review the preparation of final accounts and lead negotiations on agreement when appropriate
* Ensure controls are in place to identify all contractual ambiguities and discrepancies.
* Ensure the Estimation Department address all contractual requirements to minimise risk.
* Continual review and challenge of existing commercial processes to identify and implement best practice and ensure through QAQC audits that these are fully implemented and followed
* Attend tender settling, project start up and close out meetings as necessary
* Develop, maintain, and manage relationships with key customers to ensure the effective management of business agreements and contracts.
* Promote a common vision and ownership of commercial objectives with all senior managers
* Liaise with project support functions such as finance, procurement, estimating to ensure an all-round commercial service is maintained
* Ensure that adequate records are maintained by the project teams in respect of project issues and commercial management processes

* Reporting – Issue fortnightly reports to include:
* 6-month forward resource plan to include all known projects
* Report to include any Non-Recoverable days
* All commercial negotiations to be agreed with Commercial Director
* Financial issues that have been unable to resolve and needing assistance
* Any product failures being seen on site
* Issue monthly bonus report to the Board scheduling out the engineers proposed monthly bonus
SKILLS / Requirements:
* Qualified in an HVCA engineering / commercial discipline. [Waived for extensive experience with a recognised Diploma in a relevant discipline].
* Proven experience of testing and commissioning contracts and management for the Building Services & Construction industries.
* Minimum 6 years post-qualification experience ideally gained in a mix of client, consultant, contractor and specialist environments within the building services industry.
* Multi-sector experience including Residential, healthcare, commercial and industrial.
* First class administrative and commercial skills and awareness
* Excellent organisation and communication skills.
* Good IT Skills
* Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Adobe. PowerPoint
* Effective and confident communicator
* Reacts to changes proactively and professionally
