MPI are looking for a Permanent Electrical Applications Engineer for our client based in Milton Keynes.
Our client specialises in the design, manufacture and support of motor starters, control systems and aviation ground power systems for surface and sub-surface platforms.
With the growth in design projects, we are looking for additional electrical engineering
capability to complement our mixed discipline engineering team. You will work with other engineers on specific projects, but also provide support and advice across the business, including sales and manufacturing. You will be a technical point of
contact for our customers.
The position will report to the Senior Control Engineer and will be based at our Milton
Keynes Office. There is some scope for flexible working, where project requirements permit.
Key Duties:
* Design and development of electrical equipment and systems, as required by the sales order input, taking into account customer system requirements, specifications and appropriate engineering standards.
* To take ownership of the electrical aspects of projects and provide technical support to the project manager and customer.
* Develop electrical drawings, parts lists, layouts, and manufacturing data, and provide input into enclosure design.
* Adhere to the design control activities within the company quality management system.
* Assist with the production of ILS information, including manuals, maintenance procedures, spares provisioning and training materials.
* Reviewing legacy equipment in respect of current standards, obsolescence and design.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Broadly experienced electrical applications engineer with experience in LV motor control, distribution and control systems.
* Ability to produce a detailed design from a customer specification applying appropriate standards and regulations, selection of components through to the specification of test schedules.
* Competent in the use of AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical in producing schematic and single line diagrams for electrical systems.
* Experience in basic mechanical design in AutoCAD (2D) or Inventor (3D) would be beneficial.
* Experience of PLC and HMI systems would be an advantage but is not a requirement.
* Qualified to degree level or, having served a recognised apprenticeship, to HNC/D or equivalent.
* Effective written and verbal communicator; able to produce high-quality technical documents and reports.
* Able to achieve BPSS security clearance.
