A large food manufacturer are looking to recruit a Controls Engineer, working on a Monday to Friday day shift. This person will lead the programming and development of the automation control systems, ensuring the engineering design is reliable.
Commutable from: Milton Keynes, Bedford, Kempston, Bletchley, Leighton Buzzard, Wolverton, Newport Pagnell, Luton, Dunstable, Northampton, Daventry, Towcester
Salary: £ 45,000 to £ 47,500 plus 25 days holiday, BUPA cash plan, pension, life insurance and cycle to work scheme
The Role
Reporting into Engineering Manager as the Controls Engineer you will organise electrical and PLC design projects, by identifying issues
Identify opportunities to improve plant performance, utilising the current control systems
Troubleshoot and analyse electrical, instrumentation and mechanical equipment
Liaise with other sites when necessary and develop a UK wide standard engineering practice
Responsible for ensuring equipment is operating per specification at the completion of any intervention
Create electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic controls and associated drawings using Autocad
Lead continuous improvement activities within the department
The Person
The controls engineer will:
Hold a time-served apprenticeship with HNC or equivalent
City & Guilds 18th edition desirable
Able to write PLC and HMI code
Have experience building relationships with Rockwell and other manufacturing suppliers
Experienced in designing, programming and implementing control systems
As well as working with PLC’s, HMI’s, AC Drives, Servo Controls, Allen Bradley, Siemens
Exposure working in a food, drink or packaging environment would be beneficial
