JOB DESCRIPTION: Chief Technology Officer – Consumer Electronics

Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a high-profile role based in the Cambridge area. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Chief Technology Officer level candidate to join a world-renowned Consumer Electronics company in a high-profile role managing six head of departments and indirectly around 40 engineers and scientists.

You will work closely with all departments across the business to ensure a strong innovation pipeline and R&D roadmap based on the needs of the consumer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Chief Technology Officer – Consumer Electronics

· Drive upstream innovation from consumer insights & concept.
· Deliver early phase designs, ergonomic design, feel, how people will use it and making sure it happens.
· Develop R&D to deliver products through to design freeze and handover to manufacturing.
· Help to continuously develop a technology roadmap.
· Work closely with the global marketing team to bring the product to life.
· Deliver cost saving in partnership with the COO.
· Ensure plans are realistic and provide both product breakthrough – New and News.
· Monthly innovation reviews and regulation stage gate reviews.
· Coach, influence and develop your teams’ performance & appraisals.
· Look at innovative ways to improve working within the technology function.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Chief Technology Officer – Consumer Electronics

We are interested in receiving applications from Senior level R&D or Innovation based professionals, preferably from a Consumer Electronics, technology development or from a consultancy background who have led that function within their current or previous employer.

You will ideally be qualified to degree level in a Mechanical or Electronic Engineering discipline. You will be highly autonomous and self-driven as well having a strong understanding of working with mandatory products.
