Dunbar Education is recruiting for a Secondary school based in Milton Keynes for a Teaching Assistant with SEN experience to join the school on a long-term supply or permanent basis from June 2020. Applicants who can start sooner may also be considered.
Term time only (38 weeks per year, 30 hours per week) , 8.30am – 3.30pm (Monday to Friday)
Your role will be to assist in the support and integration of nominated students with Special Educational Needs. Reporting to deputy SENCCo, you will work predominantly in mainstream lessons across the curriculum under the direction of the class teachers and also with individual students on literacy programs. You may also have responsibility for your own vertical tutor group.
Accountabilities:
* Assist with the planning of learning activities
* Support the transition process from primary school
* Be a good role model and a good listener
* Use and develop pupil strengths, to improve areas of weakness
* Support differentiation by simplifying tasks and helping students complete work
* Develop individual learning styles through complementary activities
* Help students use appropriate resources
* Maintain awareness of IEP targets, encourage and reward achievement
* Be aware of relevant records in school
* Monitor difficulties and discuss them in Inclusion meetings
* Make improvement suggestions
* Help with pastoral issues that may arise
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a school and excellent interpersonal skills with people of all ages.
Experience in working with SEN pupils and knowledge of a range of learning difficulties is highly desirable.
