The Role
My school has state of the art senior library located at the heart of the school. We are looking to recruit a librarian to work in this hub for intellectual curiosity and learning, providing the girls in years 7-13 with all the tools and resources they need to improve their independent learning skills as they carry out research, exchange ideas and interact with their peers and teachers.
Principal Responsibilities
To organise the daily activities of the library.
To maintain the library as a vibrant learning environment where pupils and staff enjoy visiting, for formal study and leisure activities
To encourage a high level of interest from pupils and staff by maintaining the profile of the library and in developing new initiatives.
Assist pupils to ensure they are confident in using all the resources available to them
Assist teaching and support staff in any way which enhances their lessons and personal training and development
To encourage, develop and lead a team of pupil librarians
Ensure the resources of the library support the curriculum at all key stages throughout the school.
Encourage, promote and manage the pupils and staff use of the library and its resources not only for formal study but as a leisure activity
Ensure all stock is in a good state of repair
To undertake any reasonable task requested by the line manager and Head of English
This post is available from September 2020 and is a full-time position/job share.
The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Librarian with previous experience of working in a library or learning resource centre, preferably within a school setting. However, we would also consider English graduates who have a passion for continued learning and a desire to pursue a career in library work.
Hours of work
8.30-17:00 or two part-time positions (specific hours to be agreed with individuals)
Remuneration
This position will offer a competitive salary and the financial package offered will be commensurate with the responsibilities of the post and the experience of the person appointed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
