A small and intimate special needs school based in High Wycombe that caters for secondary aged students who are no longer able to attend their mainstream special school is looking for a Learning Mentor to join their team as soon as possible.
With only 10 students at any given time each child is supported on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis. When you join the team at this small school you will be a key player in helping your assigned child to develop, grow and achieve. The school changes to meet the presenting needs of its diverse pupils and is able to provide a bespoke and holistic education environment.
This long term position is an exciting opportunity for a resilient and strong individual who is confident in supporting challenging students with their SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health) needs and challenging behaviour.

As a Learning Mentor your objective is to build rapport with the children at this school and to apply a variety of techniques and strategies to deescalate and manage the children’s complex needs. Various training is provided by the school, including Team Teach which will be key to your success in this role. If you have any behaviour management training, please step forward!
Support workers, SEMH TA’s, Learning Support and Behaviour Mentors would be ideal for this role
