SENDhelp are actively looking to recruit a Braille Teaching Assistant to work closely with our partner school-based Milton Keynes to start immediately.
As Our new Teaching Assistant, you be working in a comprehensive mixed school aged between 11-19 with specialist training status a School that is thriving and successful with an excellent reputation.
Our partner School is looking for Teaching Assistant to support pupils with visual impairment across the school, working with several students across year 7-10 and all students will be members of our visually impaired department, where having Braille qualification is essential.
As our new Braille Teaching Assistant, you will be supported by excellent management who are not just committed in providing care to our students and you will also be able to bring a range of expertise and knowledge surrounding visual impairment.
As Our new Braille Teaching Assistant, you will be working as part of the team providing support for pupils who have a visual impairment, supporting pupils with no sight in the creation and transcription of braille texts and resources.
Job Role:
To prepare high quality materials in Braille, audio, and tactile form, to read and translate Braille.
Competently use with training, a range of specialist equipment to support learning for example Braille, Braille notetaker, heat pens, scanner and OCR, translation software/hardware and other specialist software/hardware.
Liaise with teaching staff regarding planning to modify curriculum materials in a timely manner
Implement agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, specific to the needs of a non-sighted learner and adjusting activities according to pupil responses/needs
Be aware of and appreciate a range of activities, courses, organisations, and individuals to provide support for pupils to broaden and enrich their learning
Prepare and use specialist equipment, plans and resources to support pupils.
SUPPORT FOR PUPILS:
Provide pastoral support to pupils
Create new and modified resources using Braille
Attend to pupils' personal needs and provide advice to assist in their social, health & hygiene develop
Assist in the assessment of the learner's progress to determine ongoing support needs
Assist the teacher/VISS with the development and implementation of Individual education Support/Mentoring plans
Provide information and advice to enable pupils to make choices about their own learning/behaviour/attendance
