What is the purpose of the role?
As a leadership position, the Transport Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and effective execution of the transport function. Collaborating with key colleagues within the Milton Keynes team is vital in providing a first-class service whilst maintaining standards of performance. With a team of transport assistants covering night and day shift operations the FLM ensures accurate briefing, debriefing, and tracking of drivers, resourcing, and plan execution in a cost-effective manner. This is to be achieved within agreed SLA’s, whilst maintaining legal compliance, resource management, employee relations management and health and safety compliance.
In this role you are accountable for:
Ensure that all operational processes are complied with as determined by the transport supervisor, included but not limited to, planning, execution, tracking, performance reporting, accident reporting, driver training, transport assistant training and POD management.
Identify, implement, and communicate continuous improvement initiatives to improve service provision, cost management and health & safety.
Ensure that the team of transport assistants are trained and competent in all associated areas and functions.
Ensure effective communications and data integrity across all shifts to maintain a smooth flow of information across all shifts.
In collaboration with the transport supervisor ensure maximum fleet availability at all times.
Actively manage and analyse data from a number of sources with view to maintaining service performance, cost, and legal compliance.
Ensure that the transport office is fully resourced at all times.
Identify gaps in resource for the transport office and effectively engage in the recruitment of new colleagues where appropriate and authorised to do so.
Act as a first point of investigation, counselling and discipline for all drivers and your team of transport assistants covering their performance, attendance, and legal compliance in line with all Clipper policies.
Maintain Clipper policy in relation to EU Drivers Hours Regulations and the Working Time Directive, ensuring that tachograph infringements are logged and acted upon.
