Our Milton Keynes-based client is looking to recruit a Transport Controller to join their team on a permanent basis. We are keen to speak with people with strong HGV driver management and routing experience, as well as experience managing third party logistics (3PL) courriers.

In this role you will be responsible for managing drivers, communicating with internal and external customers to ensure they are left with a positive impression, arranging deliveries and collections and carrying out all relevant administration duties.

Position: Transport Controller

Hours: Monday to Friday, 11am-7.30pm

Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum (DOE)

The job will involve…

–          Communicating with customers in a friendly and professional manner to ensure a positive experience with the company’s delivery service

–          Liaising with the company fleet and sub contracted carriers

–          Working to deadlines in an efficient and economically viable manner

–          Investigating issues surrounding missing, damaged or lost freight

–          Communicating with drivers to confirm trip information and paperwork as require

–          Resolving invoice queries and discrepancies to ensure payment is approved

–          Completing shipping manifests, despatch labels, transport records and end of day reports

The Person will…

–          Have experience of working in a transport role (essential)  

–          Have experience managin HGV drivers, including outsourced 3PL courriers

–          Have experience routing HGV drivers

–          Have an excellent standard of customer service

–          Possess good IT skills (essential)

–          Have strong attention to detail as data analysis will be involved

–          Have a proactive and productive approach to their work

–          Possess a ‘can do’ attitude 

–          Have the ability to manage own work load
