About the role:
Objective:
Responsible for the development, performance and maintenance of all transport and warehouse
activities, to produce an efficient operational service, maximising performance, value, and profitability
against pre-agreed targets.
Ensuring the team understands its duties and its role within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide a safe working environment, adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and ensuring they are always understood and practiced by the team.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Ensure all orders are processed efficiently and accurately as per operational procedures, and that the delivery of orders meets customer’s timescales/requirements.
Supervise and control order picking/packing, goods in, goods out operations to ensure accuracy with minimum handling and stock damage.
Monitor, measure and report on related process performance, general issues, and operational concerns.
Responsibility to adhere to KPI’s and plan to maximise profitability.
Develop new initiatives and look for new ways to optimise the transport and warehouse operation.
Oversee the smooth running of the hub operations and the night shunter workload, ensuring all freight is delivered and returned within the agreed time window.
To work closely with other Shift Supervisors to ensure operational handovers are effective communications tools to ensure operational targets are achieved.
To ensure that the training skills are met for current and future demands of the shift team members and the company as a whole.
To have an active role in the companies’ continuous improvement plan to achieve plans for
future growth within the company.
Assist in achieving maximum customer satisfaction in accordance with company plans.
Maintain responsibility for performing all duties in compliance with legal/statutory regulations, professional duties, responsibilities, and obligations.
Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace.
To make appropriate decisions while following the companies’ organisational structure.
Night to night tasks such as route planning, resource allocation and driver supervision.
Ensure all the required management checks are completed daily.
Utilise agreed systems to manage the transport and warehouse operation.
Assist with plans for transport management and maintenance.
Coach the team daily in order that a common goal is focused upon, and those business objectives are met consistently.
Delegate authority and responsibility to the team with supervision, accountability, and review.
Record /action and communicate all shortage /returns issues to the relevant parties.
Liaise with external and internal customers, suppliers, and transport companies as and when required in a timely way
