HGV Driver
An exciting position has become available for a full-time HGV Driver based in Stowe, Buckinghamshire. The successful candidate’s salary will be £36,000-£38,000 dependent on experience.
The HGV Drivers role is to deliver our own equipment to our customers premises or site location. Be able to demonstrate to our customer the basic functions of our equipment and daily maintenance required. The HGV driver is also required to collect our own equipment from site and be able to mark down any damage sustained during the hire period, fuel used or general condition of the equipment i.e. clean, dirty etc.
Core hours are 6.00am to 4.30pm Monday – Friday
Due to the Nature of the business a Flexible approach to overtime working is required.
Role Requirements
Must have held an HGV class C+E License for at least 3 years with no more than 3 penalty points at any one time.
A completed Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and up-to-date digital tachograph card are also expected.
Our HGV drivers are expected to work flexibly and responsively to meet the ever-evolving needs of our customers.
The work of our HGV drivers sometimes goes beyond simply operating a vehicle, it will be necessary for staff to commit diligently to the necessary training, and to hold themselves to a high customer service standard while out delivering.
Assist colleagues whenever necessary.
Essential Competencies
HGV C+E License (no more than 3 penalty Points)
Driver CPC
Digital Tachograph Card
Experience of Construction Plant Equipment.
Additional Qualifications that would be advantageous (or training will be provided).
CPCS H&S Operator Card.
CPCS A49 or A50 Plant Loader Course.
Plant Mover (Non-Operational) Course NPORS.
Plant Loader Securer Course NPORS.
Vehicle Marshall Course.
Role Responsibilities
Be fully conversant with the EU Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Regulations.
Operating commercial vehicles including rigid, articulated and wagon and drag lorries.
Driving long or short distances.
Able to perform Drivers’ daily checks at the start and end of each shift.
Supervise the loading and unloading of the vehicle at all times with pre-journey load safety checks mandatory prior to departing any depot or customer premises.
Carrying out basic routine maintenance, such as oil, tyre and brake checks.
Planning delivery schedules and routes with transport managers.
Following traffic reports and adapting routes if necessary.
Completing delivery paperwork.
Keeping your vehicle in good condition.
Taking the quickest route to your destination.
