Our prestigious client based in Milton Keynes is looking to expand their team and recruit a Customs Employee
As Customs Employee you will be responsible for processing all relevant customs operations for the fastest possible delivery to international customers and respecting customs compliance.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 year’s experience within a similar role in the Food & Beverages industry
Key Responsibilities:-
Providing a central contact point for internal customers, suppliers/partners and sharing information to enable others to fulfill their role and build their understanding of Customs targets and objectives.
Validating data for customs declarations and checking import assessment notes.
Requesting and compiling necessary import documentation such as customs invoices, certificate of origins and cargo control documents.
Applying for and managing import licenses, health certificates and phytosanitary certificates.
Calculating and tracking import duties, tariffs and taxes payable on shipments
Preparing and processing import customs declarations (free circulation, transit, special procedures) ensuring all shipments meet applicable laws and procedures to facilitate the timely and cost-effective import of goods.
Corresponding with customs brokers, freight forwarders, suppliers and HMRC ensuring goods are cleared through customs and on to their final destinations
Maintaining a robust records system of relevant imports and export documentation (e.g. Tax declarations) in compliance with company and HMRC requirements ensuring easy and complete access of files.
Preparing for and coordinating internal and external custom audits; identifying and introducing corrective actions as appropriate
Supervising stock in special procedures (warehousing, inward processing, end-use)
Classifying goods according to the tariff coding system and determining custom tariff numbers.
Issuing preferential documents (EUR.1, LTSD, A.TR) and Certificate of Origin (Chamber of Commerce).
Regularly reviewing and updating material master data in ERP system ensuring data is accurate and up to date. (incl. commodity codes, tariffs and duties).
Filing of statistical reports e.g. Intrastat.
Organising and supporting internal and external customer meetings in consultation with the divisions involved.
Managing a prompt material returns service for import shipments blocked at port, applying for custom duties refunds if applicable and coordinating export of empty containers.
Managing excise tax warehouse/stock management
