Engineering isn’t just about what you know, what you fix, and what you solve; it’s about the difference it makes. As a Head of Engineering, you see the wood for the trees. You collaborate. You lead. You turn innovative and exciting concepts into reality.
At Veolia, your flair for people management, engaging communication, and complex problem-solving will drive our journey to become the most ecological environmental services company in the world. You’ll lead the approval and delivery of multiple multi-million-pound projects.
Sidestep repetitive work and cog-in-a-machine dynamics; this is your opportunity to join a progressive force in sustainability. Our products stretch across multiple sectors, globally. Our water treatment services have helped to save millions of lives during COVID-19.
Here, we’re proud of the difference we make to our customers and our staff. We’re passionate about quality engineering and you’ll be steering a team of characters that puts blood, sweat, and tears into the realisation of products that go on to sell in their thousands.
Your Next Career Step?
As our Head of Engineering, you’ll be a key authority in enabling new products to go to market successfully. You’ll solve complex engineering challenges, provide technical expertise, and coordinate with manufacturing, QC, and technical support globally.
Operating in a low-to-medium-sized volume manufacturing environment, you will be a go-to authority on transitional change – selecting the right manufacturing, construction, and design processes for the right cost.
You’re no traditional engineer; sure, you have that pragmatism and eye for detail – but, crucially, you’re receptive to new ideas, you can directly manage people, and you can adapt your style of communication up to board level down to the shop floor.
We’re looking for that blend of engineering science alongside the art of communication. Not just a standalone orator, you motivate your teams by providing the nitty-gritty detail when needed, whilst being equally adept at keeping senior teams engaged.
The Key Requirements:
Experience developing products from concept through to manufacture… You mustn’t have been siloed into a niche; you must offer proven success in managing professionals hailing from electronics, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.
Leadership of product conceptualisation based on specific requirements and targets, but with minimal technical detail… You’re not a Project Manager, following a pre-defined course. You can fill in the gaps and crack the codes to bring out a successful marketplace launch.
The management and people skills to directly steer a team of 10 professionals spanning mechanical, electronics, regulatory affairs, and graphics and manuals. You engage, not preach. You don’t order; you motivate, inspire, and bring people with you.
Successful management of concurrent projects (10-plus), each comprising a spend of circa of £1m-to-£4m. Rather than larger projects with huge funding allocations, you’re skilled in tackling the smaller ones that are tougher nuts to crack.
Agile communication skills… With experience presenting at board level, you can relay technical matters to non-technical people. You can hold a room and strike the balance between detail and the big picture. You don’t just hold a room; you can read an audience.
Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary and flexible benefits package, which varies depending on the role and to fit in with your lifestyle; this includes….
Up to 10% bonus based on personal and company objectives
Contributory Company Pension Plan with generous life assurance and ill-health provision
Enhanced Maternity, Paternity and Sick Pay
25 days of annual leave plus eight bank holidays for full-time employees, as well as buy and sell options
Medical insurance for all employees plus the option to add your family
Plus, lots more
