On behalf of a highly successful and well established construction company, we are keen to speak with construction professionals who have moved into or would like to explore a career in training. Based both at their Head office in Bedfordshire and the training Centre in South Cambridgeshire, the role encompasses both the strategic planning for company training requirements, as well as the practical delivery of training courses.
Training Manager – Construction
Brief Description:
The Training Manager will take responsibility for delivery of H&S (and some development) Training within this c. £200m t/o business. This will be through identification, planning, designing, delivering and embedding suitable learning & development and interventions.
Role Responsibilities / Duties:
* Produce Training plans and schedules
* Write Training reports for the Safety Director
* Responsible for the implementation and delivery of SMSTS, SSSTS, Fire Safety training, Asbestos Refreshers and Environmental Awareness
* Be able to deliver the current Site Safety Plus
* Design, develop and deliver Health and Safety training across the wider business
* Evaluate the effectiveness of the current Health and Safety training and make recommendations for future requirements
* Conduct training needs analysis and gap assessment of capability and competency
Making sure all that attend training meet the required standards set down
* Ensuring the training rooms are fit for purpose prior to any training being conducted
* Keep up to date with latest legislation changes by researching subjects being taught
* Keep up with changes in advancements of training delivery
* Keep training interesting and interactive
* Engaging with stakeholders regarding content and feedback
Experience required:
Experience of delivering H&S Training with a minimum of 5 years of construction site supervisor/ management experience. You must have sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge and experience of the conditions, problems, pressures, practices and legal issues which affect carrying out construction work. Those with experience only in project management must be able to demonstrate practical involvement, with examples of the levels of decision making, authority and problem solving. Solely carrying out safety inspections and audits is not suitable evidence under these criteria.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience to deliver a practical course.
Have experience in training, ideally in the successful delivery of Site Safety Plus, technical training and tailor made bespoke courses. Plus demonstrate understanding of the development cycle.
Qualifications:
Essential:
* Hold an appropriate membership of a professional Health and Safety body (IOSH, IIRSM or IRM) and demonstrate CPD activity.
* Level 3 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) or Equivalent
* A1, D32, D33 Assessor qualification or Equivalent
* Full UK Driving licence
* The NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety and Health, or NVQ/SVQ Level 4 in Occupational Safety and Health
* NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate
* CSCS or CPCS Card
Desirable:
* First Aid Instructor for QCF Approved Courses
Level 2 Certificate in Adult Numeracy or Equivalent
Level 2 Certificate in Adult Literacy or Equivalent
Level 5 – Certificate in Management Leadership
A current Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate
Qualities and Skills:

* Have a good understanding of Health & Safety legislation within the construction sector
