Element has an opportunity for a Timber Frame Consultant to join the BM TRADA team, based in the South East of England but with a national focus. The role would suit an applicant with a qualification in a building or construction related discipline or proven skills and experience.
This is a great opportunity to work with one of the leading timber frame consultancies in the UK. You will be working within a highly respected team where a variety of work is on offer. No two days are the same with projects ranging from new-build houses, flats and care homes, to trouble shooting defects in existing buildings.
Some of the key responsibilites will include, but not limited to;
* Conduct on site quality assessments and produce accompanying reports
* Investigate defective timber frame buildings and offer solutions
* Providing technical advice and respond to enquiries
* Building and maintaining relationships with timber frame companies
* Provide independent, impartial advice in disputes
* Assist the marketing and publications department with input for technical information documents
* Deliver a range of Timber Frame training courses for individuals and organisations
* Assess quality standards and advise on improvements
* Follow the relevant procedures where activities are controlled by the Quality Management System
SKILLS
* Demonstrable experience in practical / technical subjects relating to the timber industry or construction (eg sustainablity, acoustic, fire, facilities management)
* Preference for a degree qualified individual or qualification in a relevant discipline
* This job would possibly suit a Contracts Manager, Project Manager, Fire Engineer, Building Control Surveyor or a professional from the Timber Frame manufacturing environment
* Comfortable with working at heights
* Demonstrates good understanding of BS and EU standards
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
* Ability to explain technical terms / issues / concepts clearly
* Ability to work under pressure and experience of meeting deadlines
* An eye for detail and be able to communicate thoughts and ideas
* Excellent time management skills, and be able to manage your own diary
* Current and Valid Driving Licence
