Calling all Technical Services Managers who are specialists in the residential sector!
I am currently working with a specialist Main contractor based out of Central London. Only forming 5 years ago they have quickly grown into a true specialist with repeat business for blue chip clients. A solid turnover of £25m for 2022.
The business is growing through organic growth off the back of solid relationship, award-winning designs and quality delivery. Due to strong balance sheets and cash reserves, they can maintain an excellent supply chain that is held to high industry standards.
The project is converting an commercial office space in a 200-block residential unit. There will circa £15 MEP services installed. The contractor is appointed under JCT D&B contract. The programme of works is 80 weeks.
Position: Technical Services Manager – Milton Keynes- Salary £375 per day (Outside IR35)
Role: The Technical Services Manager undertakes a vital role in the successful delivery of projects. The TSM is responsible for the successful installation of M&E services on site; commencing with assessment of the suitability of proposed systems and installation, through final commissioning and managing the handover.
Key to this role is being very hands on, on site. Dealing with any issues or blockers and overcoming these issues. The TSM will seek to minimise the impact of the fit out on the existing building systems while ensuring a strongly cost effective and risk considered solution. With sub-contractors likely to be under pressure, this will involve ensuring that their proposed solution is workable, realistically costed and challenging that design solutions are both value-engineered and practical.
Overview of Responsibilities:
* Involved in projects from the finalising of design of M&E systems to delivery on site, taking the M&E elements through to final commissioning while meeting all project KPIs
* Work closely and in conjunction with the Project Management Team to plan and execute M&E works on the project. Provide buildability advice
* Quality checks of the installations
* Monitor compliance with the latest regulations
* Liaise with the client / the client’s external services consultants to address issues and collaborate with them to reach agreed services solutions
* Work with subcontractors to further develop practical, cost-effective design solutions when issues have been identified
* Attend project meetings and report accordingly
Skills & experience:
* 5 years + M&E experience in a fit out related company, consultancy or subcontractor
* An excellent knowledge of mechanical building services systems and a thorough understanding of all building services systems
* A track record of successful M&E project delivery
* Experience of managing subcontractors in the delivery of projects
* Must have a thorough understanding of the Regulations and Standards that apply for the full range of M&E applications as well as the implications of these Standards in terms of fit out. Be able to apply this knowledge to achieve a commercial solution
* Must be able to reassure the client (and/or consultants) with the depth of understanding of the technical issues within buildings
* Ideally a recognised and relevant qualification
