Element has an opportunity for a Technical Assistant (with no prior experience) to join our growing team based within our Warrington Fire business in High Wycombe. This is a great opportunity to develop your career within a Global Testing, Inspection & Certification business.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
* Building rigs ready for testing of customer products typically doorsets, windows / glazing, partitions and fire stopping products
* Working within a team assisting and preparing building products for fire testing
* Clearing up of the work area and complying to environmental legislation for disposal of waste
* Liaise and assist other Technical Assistants to ensure work is completed in a timely fashion
* Liaising with clients, contractors and third parties on installations, test set ups. This could include discussions regarding the correct materials to be used, working from a client’s technical drawings and detailed explanation of test results.
* Supervise clients when on site to ensure their Health and Safety responsibilities are met
* Achieving and maintaining high standards of health and safety for all
WHAT SKILLS YOU NEED TO HAVE
* Practical skills for using tools within a construction / engineering / shop fitting environment
* Experience or knowledge of working to Health & Safety Guidelines
* Interest in materials testing and a career that can lead to NVQ qualifications and beyond
* Experience of working in a busy, ever changing environment
* Good communication skills
* Self-starter, logical and methodical
* Attention to detail
* Able to work both indoors and outdoors at our facility
* Ability to get to our site which is just outside of High Wycombe, own transport essential
