About this Role:
Ambitious Site Manager required to work alongside the Project Manager to manage the Phase 2 works for a close to completion new build secondary school project near Maidenhead in Berkshire. The works to undertake include the demolition of the existing school building, new sports pitches and MUGAs, plus landscaping – the programme of works will run until late 2022.
Reporting to the Project Manager you will be responsible for managing all site-based construction activities; You will have responsibility for the safe and successful demolition, dealing with any issues that arise, and all subsequent work including short-term programming of works, ensuring company health and safety standards are achieved, review of method statements, risk assessments, site logistics, quality control, implementation of inspection and test plans, client liaison, coordination meetings, reporting on progress against programmes, issue resolution, etc, snagging and handover.
The Project Manager will initially remain on site, then revert to a visiting role once you are up to speed and in control, so this is a good opportunity for the right candidate to run their own project with support.

About the Company/Client/Project:
The role is with the busy regional office of this leading national contractor with a proven track record in the successful delivery of projects ranging from £15m to £50m in the commercial, secondary and higher education, luxury retirement, leisure, data centre, MOD and MOJ sectors. Geographical patch focus is Berkshire, Hampshire, West London – M4 / M3 corridors.
Workload is secured on a mixture of national and regional frameworks, competitive tenders plus negotiated works with repeat clients. Turnover for the region is circa £110m, with a 100% percentage already secured for next year and into 2023.
With an excellent reputation for training, development, and the opportunity for progression within the business, this contractor has a very low turnover of staff, and long-term career employees in key management and director positions.
Requirements including certificates and qualifications:
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and proactive, demonstrating excellent technical, organisational, man-management and communication skills. A proven track record of 5-10 years of working for and developing within a top twenty main contractor will be advantageous.
You will ideally come from a construction management, engineering or trades background, be educated to degree level or similar NVQ level, with a sharp eye for detail and quality throughout. You will be forward thinking and resourceful, possessing the ability to plan ahead, identify and resolve issues, work well within a team, see the big picture, with a positive, 'get it right first time' approach.
You will possess your SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications for this role.
