Textile Repairs Technician
Reports to: Technical Manager

Job description
The Textile Repairs Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all textile and soft goods in the company’s rental stock.
Duties include:
* Carrying out repairs as required on all forms of textile and soft goods in the company’s inventory using the machines and equipment provided in a safe and effective manner.
* Carrying out alterations and additions to all forms of textile and soft goods in the company’s inventory.
* Liaising with the textile prep department and responding to any of their urgent needs for stock that may be in repair.
* Understanding the priorities of the incoming textile repairs and carrying out repairs on the most urgently needed equipment first.
* Using RT Pro stock control system to update repair tickets with parts and labour required to repair an item as needed.
* Using RT Pro stock control system to check items out of repair with a resolution description once fixed.
* Aiding the repairs administrator in pricing billable textile repairs as early and accurately as possible.
* Liaising with the textile prep department and responding to any of their urgent needs for stock that may be in repair.
* Lead and train temporary textile repair technicians on our repair procedures as needed.
* Liaising with the Repairs Administrator about retiring stock which is beyond economical repair.
* Liaising with the Repairs Administrator on ordering more repair fabrics when stocks are running low and pre-empt any future shortages.
* Ensure the textile repairs area is always maintained in a clean and organised manner.
* Work with the Technical Manager to ensure all operations are risk assessed and control measures are being adhered to.
Person specification
* Must be trained and experienced in the use of industry level sewing machinery.
* Able to learn the company’s stock control inventory system (Rental tracker Pro).
* Be able to build strong working relationships with colleagues.
* To be able to work under pressure to changing deadlines.
* Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
* Self-motivated and organised with the ability to plan workload and keep track of multiple jobs.
* Experience in the lighting industry is desirable but not essential.
* An interest in the lighting industry for film, television and live events is desirable
