PSR Solutions are working in partnership with a leading House Builder, in its search for a Senior Layout Designer to join the design team.

As a Senior Layout Designer within this team, you should have a number of years of experience in a similar role within a House Building environment. Your skillset will include producing housing layouts using AutoCAD, producing hand sketches to 1:500 scale and be experienced in producing feasibility design for land bids as well as planning applications.

The Senior Layout Designer that joins this team will work closely with the technical and planning teams, producing layouts across a range of house types and various developments. You will work closely with the planning team to prepare and submit planning applications and liaise with planning authorities accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

Produce Feasibility Schemes in line with company philosophy and Design Brief liaising where necessary with the Land and Development Departments.
Maximise land values through good and innovative design.
Ensure design concepts can be translated into workable development solutions.
Interact with and monitor the technical development of schemes ensuring that the original concept is not reduced.
Prepare and submit Planning Applications with the Planning Manager, negotiating with Local Planning Authorities to ensure, where possible, an approval is obtained.
Monitor the progress of planning applications and subsequent release of planning conditions.
Interact with external consultants where necessary.

Knowledge and Skills

Production of housing layouts on using AutoCAD and ability to Sketch by hand to scale.
Production of artistic street scenes using sketch up and photoshop
A minimum of five years experience in a Housebuilding environment in relation to feasibility design for land bids and planning applications.
Able to communicate ideas effectively and take stakeholders on the journey of the design principles for the layout.
Proven experience of Local Authority and Highways requirements and capable of interpreting these into innovative design concepts.
Ability to work to deadlines and manage own workload.
Experience of standard house types.
