Role Overview
Our client is seeking to employ a Senior Engineer with specific experience in CFA/Rotary Bored Piling to be responsible for ensuring that the daily site tasks are completed to a high standard by the site and engineering teams on the UK's largest Ground Engineering contract to date – High Speed 2 (HS2).
This Senior Engineer would also assist the Project Manager to plan, lead, coordinate and manage the activities across multiple HS2 sites to ensure agreed targets and standards of safety, quality, culture and legislative adherence are achieved and would attend at Client progress meetings as required.
Ensuring that HS2 sites perform in line with budget and to maintain a motivated, effective and safety conscious workforce.
The role is varied and will require a degree of self-motivation and good client and team liaison skills.
General Duties
Supervise Site and Junior Engineers on predominantly Rotary Bored Piling Contracts to ensure scheduling, resourcing and works package plans are completed to a high level of accuracy and in a productive and timely manner. This includes:
* Preparation of Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Task Briefings,
* ITPs, Lift Plans;
* Requesting resources and liaising with Procurement and Logistics teams;
* Producing delivery schedules and communicating these to Client team;
* Producing accurate site installation records; and
* Keeping detailed site diaries.
Communicate with Supervisors to ensure full understanding of information provided and ensure handovers and briefings are executed effectively and that methodology and risks are clearly communicated to the entire site team.
Actively participate in Daily Briefings and Safety Visits to identify site safety and environmental hazards and implement measures to address these.
Liaising regularly with Site Management, client teams and subcontractors to track progress and identify any changes/variations.
Encourage innovation by working closely with site engineering team.
Review any potential/actual changes in scope and communicate with Commercial Team.
Additional duties
Conduct annual performance development reviews.
Manage subcontractors and suppliers effectively and arrange regular meetings to review performance.
Assist in the development of all team members under your responsibility to ensure they reach their maximum potential.
Identify variations and notify Commercial Team to allow Early Warnings and Compensation Events to be issued in a timely manner.
Provide detailed records to substantiate variations.
Ensure site costs are managed effectively through management of staff, processes and technology from within the wider team.
Required experience/Qualifications
Proven experience within a similar position with Rotary Bored Piling experience.
CSCS Card of appropriate category.
Full driving licence.
A good level of numeracy, analytical by nature, and a problem solver.
SSSTS/SMSTS.
CPCS Appointed Person for Lifting Operations.
Commercial knowledge of NEC form of Contract.
Fully conversant with requirement of SPERW 3rd Edition.
Desirable experience
Hold or working towards Professional Membership. e.g. ICE/RICS.
Experience of working within a Joint Venture.
NVQ 2 Cable Avoidance or equivalent.
Temporary Works Coordinator.
Good working knowledge of applicable BS/EN Standards.
Experience of Slurry Wall, Secant, King Post, CSP, CFA, Guidewalls.
