Section Engineer – Ground Investigation

The role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Section Engineer for Ground Investigation to work for a Joint Venture on HS2. Our client brings together international, market leading expertise from some of the most successful civil engineering and construction companies.
They are responsible for the delivery of an 80km stretch of new high speed rail link including 15 viaducts, 5km of green tunnels, 22km of road diversions, 67 overbridges and around 30 million cubic metres of excavation. Making the project one of Europe’s most prestigious civil engineering schemes.
In this role you will assist with coordination, progress tracking and troubleshooting of Ground Investigation (GI) fieldworks and lab testing delivery across one of the project sections. Close liaison is required with the relevant GI section Agents from the GI delivery team on site.
Close liaison is also required with the relevant GI subcontractors and the GI laboratories to track and monitor progress and resolve issues (e.g. restricted tests, unsuitable samples etc.). An essential part of this role is direct reporting to the Design & Engineering Section Lead to ensure the delivery of GI information on time.
You must manage and respond to relevant contractual communications, attend Risk Reduction meetings. Supporting the link and coordination with the GI delivery team and GI subcontractors for management of GI related topics is again an essential part of this role.
Criteria:
• Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant HND / HNC
• Experience working for a main contractor
• Experience as a Section Engineer or Site Engineer
• Ground investigation experience
