This role is to join an established consulting engineering practice who specialise in design within the mechanical and electrical field.
Design work undertaken includes refrigeration, sprinkler systems and insulated structure installations, along with all specialist service elements that are required. They also have a specialised team in automated warehousing, projects for the e-commerce market covering general merchandise, clothing and food distribution markets.
Due to continued growth within the business, they are now looking for a Refrigeration Design Engineer to join their team.
Key Responsibilities
* Formulation of briefs.
* Assisting the Team Leader/Client Interface on designated projects.
* Formulation of project specific design criteria.
* Participating in all aspects of the refrigeration design package, including heat load calculations, equipment and component selections.
* Participate in and review sustainable design solutions including environmental impact/benefit, integrated systems and decarbonisation.
* Producing services calculations and/or assisting others to complete them
* Producing drawings and specifications to a high standard.
* Carry out Condition Surveys and produce reports
* Ability to carry out Technical Reviews and report.
* Carrying out tender reviews including financial review.
* Integration with other team members and the design teams
* Development of site understanding and monitoring project performance with the assistance of the project leader.
* Producing site reports.
* Self-development and Continued Professional Development (CPD)
* Keep up to date with new and emerging technologies and advise clients/implement where necessary.
* Working on a variety of projects covering multiple sectors of the construction and client industries.
Professional and Technical Expertise Requirements:
* Understanding of Thermodynamics, Psychometrics within RACHP.
* Experience of using calculations, tools, charts, tables and formulae for design, data analysis and fault finding.
* Ability to produce heat load calculations and carry out equipment and component selections across a range of refrigerants such as R717 and R744.
* Experience in component selection, pipe sizing and understanding on how the selections impact the system.
* Awareness of RACHP products, technologies and supply chain including existing and emerging products.
* Understanding of total environmental impact of RACHP systems, including total life cycle costing, direct and indirect carbon emissions.
* General understanding of control systems (i.e PLC) and leak detection systems.
* Ability to participate in multidisciplinary teams and present data effectively.
* Experience in producing site reports
