All great things start somewhere, and here at VolkerWessels UK they start with you. We're looking for capable, down-to-earth people with an appetite for exciting challenges. We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our VolkerLaser team working on the Green Tunnels project.
Location – The tunnels run through and span from Wendover to Banbury
The project, a joint venture between Effiage, Kier, Ferrovial and BAM, will see VolkerLaser provide waterproofing and firestopping to precast concrete on 20km tunnels in areas C2 and C3. A green tunnel – or a cut-and-cover tunnel – is where a trench is excavated and roofed over, then the land on top of the tunnel is restored so it blends into the landscape.
Once complete, the works fprm part of the wider HS2 project – a new high-speed railway that will form the backbone of Britain's transport network.

Management: General management experience gained within a contracting environment, with significant operational responsibility and wide ranging knowledge over a range of disciplines including operations, finance and HR.
Technical: A construction background from a Tier 1 Main Contractor, delivering projects worth £10 million +. Able to demonstrate leading successful and innovative service quality programmes underpinned with knowledge of performance reporting and measurement methodologies. Excellent programming skills (Asta). Good understanding of NEC form of contract & JCT D&B.
Commercial: Understanding of cashflows and project costs and proficiency in containing them on site. Able to work alongside the QS and form a partnership to deliver the project.
Interpersonal: Highly developed influencing skills, able to build win-win alliances between internal and external stakeholders. Excellent team-player who believes in moulding staff around them. Familiar with worker behavioural programmes.
General: High standards of HSEQ and ability to implement and maintain own systems and strategies to achieve the highest standards on site.Other
