Roma Black are currently working with a client who support Buckinghamshire County Council and are recruiting for a Highways Design Team Leader.
We are looking for someone with proven experience of designing highways schemes as well as project and team management.
The Highways Design Team Leader is responsible for managing Design Service activities to ensure resources are fully utilised and implemented in the design of highway schemes.

Day to day responsibilities of a Highways Design Team Leader:
The design of highway schemes to include (but not limited to) Public Realm improvements, carriageway and footway repairs and reconstruction, drainage, vehicle restraint systems, temporary works, Traffic management, road markings and signs
The preparation of feasibility studies, scheme reports, scheme design for highways, drainage, flooding and a variety of other projects
resolving technical issues as they occur for a range of areas across the project and for the monitoring of progress
Attend progress meetings, public exhibitions and public inquiries
Attend all site and depot locations within Buckinghamshire
Line management of a team comprising of engineering staff
Provide coaching and mentoring to junior members of staff
Management and deployment of suitable resources to ensure deadlines are successfully met to the required standards
Deliver the programme of works to budget, to programme and to the right quality
Budgetary control and financial management
Considering ways to make the business more efficient driving through continuous improvement
Manage the production of Briefing Notes and Cabinet Member Approval reports and Key Decision Reports as required
Manage the Health and Safety, Environmental Management System and Quality Management System Essential Background/Skills of a Highways Design Team Leader:
Experience of highway design as well as team and project management
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related subject
IEng/CEng and MICE status or equivalent
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships
In depth understanding of design procedures and standards
Knowledge of Construction (Design & Management) Regulations
Good IT skills
Valid driving licence Features and Benefits:
Competitive salary up to £50,000 p/a
Flexibility with regards to part remote working available although some time must be spent in the Aylesbury office and visiting sites in Buckinghamshire
