Currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Manager for an established, market-leading and specialist in Utilities. You will be joining a rapidly growing team, they seek candidates that who are happy to travel across the South of the country and or based in Swindon. They are a national business with an administrative base in Swindon, Buckinghamshire or Oxfordshire.
The role will entail visiting live sites, providing support to the site teams in all matters related to safety, whilst also undertaking regular audits to prove and monitor safety standards within the business. Candidates must be experienced and ideally have prior experience of working in earthworks, soil remediation, general groundworks, civil construction, and a practical understanding of the Civils industry.
The role will involve working alongside the Contracts Manager/Director monitoring the construction works and managing subcontractors in line with Contract program of works. The successful candidate will need to communicate with companies’ direct operatives and subcontractors ensuring project requirements are met in terms of environmental and safety management.
You will be expected to promote and develop practical methods that allow the business to work to the highest standards, related to health & safety and environmental matters.
Candidates must have prior experience working at this level of management and be able to demonstrate their pro-active ability, necessary for the leadership role in what is the fast moving / dynamic construction environment that this business operates in.
Position overview:
Having a sound Civil engineering-based knowledge & experience.
Previous experience in Utilities
A practical approach to solving problems and providing solutions/systems for adoption on site.
Experienced in undertaking and reporting audits.
Experienced in investigating and reporting accident investigations.
Experienced in providing on-site training where required.
Able to Communicate with Staff, Operatives, and Sub-contractors alike.
Promotes high standards of health & safety for all.
Establishes and maintain H&S standards on projects.
Position Requirements:
Qualified to A level, ONC, OND, HNC, HND or Degree Level.
Professionally Qualified in Safety – NEBOSH Diploma level minimum and GradIOSH or above.
Hold professional membership (preferred, but not essential).
Experience within the civil, earthworks, and groundworks sectors.
A professional, proactive, and driven individual.
Able to add value to the business in regard to Safety and Environmental practice and delivery.
Hold/be trained in CSCS Card, Relevant Site Management Ticket, SMSTS Trained, and First Aid.
Full understanding of current Health & Safety legislation and regulation
