Head of Structural & Civil Engineering
The company is one of the leading Out of Home media owners with more than 40,000 advertising sites in their portfolio. ( Digital Billboards and Bus shelters ) With over 650 people work in 14 locations across the country, they are creating and delivering some of the most memorable advertising campaigns in the UK.
We are seeking a Head of Engineering to oversee the Structural and Technical Division within the company. The ideal candidate will initially manage a small team of Engineers and CAD Technicians, however the HOE will have the responsibility of expanding the team over the next two years in order to manage the nationwide build program. Resposibilites will include the monitoring and the delivery of works within the team and coordinate the processes and structure to ensure critical timescales are met. They will need to take on board our existing work streams and work with the Head of Construction to develop the technical division of the company. The role will involve liaising with structural engineers, building control, local authorities, several of our internal teams such as Construction and New Development Team, as well as the Procurement division.
As the Head of Engineering you will support the technical interface between the projects and the engineering disciplines. Provide direction, guidance and support, including field surveys of freestanding and building fixed proposed structures to determine the site requirements, designs, reports and calculations to the relevant teams as required.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring that there is a clear understanding of the project remit, the scope is well-defined and will ensure that there is appropriate dialogue between the different departments involved in the project. You’ll also monitor the outputs from the Structural and Technical Team to ensure that they cover all aspects of the remit and are consistent with each other.
Requirements
5+ years' knowledge and experience in Engineering Management
5+ year's experience in structural engineering and a reasonable knowledge of civil engineering.
5+ years’ knowledge and experience in CAD systems and has extensive technical knowledge.
Experience in ground, site and building surveys
Proven experience of implementing successful change within an engineering team.
Effective leadership, people management skills are essential and the ability to work effectively in teams.
Problem solving skills – capable of establishing facts through sound analysis of problems, identifying options to resolve these issues and seeing them through to implementation.
Able to take decisions and recognises the need to consult, inform and escalate as appropriate.
Organisational competencies and Project Management skills to keep projects, processes, and Engineering team on track
An open-minded, flexible attitude to meeting the requirements of the business in a safe manner.
Recognises change / deviations from planned activities and can effectively stop, communicate and re-plan activities in a well-managed manner.
An effective negotiator and able to establish strong partnerships with internal teams, departments and suppliers.
