OAG Ltd are looking for a Graduate Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join their team in High Wycombe. OAG Ltd are a specialist subcontractor who are passionate about delivering striking structural glazing including atria, roofs, feature floors, entrance canopies and glazed screens to office buildings and public places such as sports arenas, shopping centres, airports and railway stations predominantly across central London. You will assist the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Director to ensure a successful financial outcome on allocated projects. You will join on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary, alongside the opportunity to work in a well-established and friendly company.
The role:
As our Graduate Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will work within the commercial department shadowing a Senior Quantity Surveyor learning the fundamentals of our business and trade. They will offer you guidance and assistance with your development that will be individually reviewed periodically. You will gain a wider knowledge of how a commercial team interact with each department and how success is delivered.
Key responsibilities of our Trainee Quantity Surveyor will include:
– Obtaining all cost information including estimating data and any quotations used in the tender
– Starting up a financial file
– Obtaining and agreeing procurement schedule
– Establishing valuation dates with client
– Raising draft invoices to accounts department
– Producing projected sales forecast when the valuation dates are known
– Setting up valuation format based around the tender document
– Submiting valuations to the client in accordance with the valuation dates
– Obtaining payment certificate.
– Ensuring accounts raise an invoice
– Placing sub-contract orders
– Submitting cost value reconciliations to the Financial Manager on a monthly basis
– Submit/agree final account
– Invoice retention release
– Instructions to be obtained for all variations
– Significant problems on the project to be reported – complete problem report
– Attend regular internal contract review meetings
– Value all variations and submit to the client
– Instruct sub-contracts for variations – obtain a quotation where possible
– Raise sub-contract payments
– Agree final accounts with sub-contractors
– Visit site regularly
– Chase and obtain final retention releases
In order to succeed you will need to be tenacious, able to quickly establish working relationships with a variety of people and thrive in a varied and fast paced environment.
You will have received, or be expecting to achieve, a degree of at least 2:1 level, but the course studied is not as important as having the requisite personal attributes.
