We are seeking an experienced Estimator/Surveyor for our client's expanding fire protection business in Milton Keynes. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established passive fire protection installation company experiencing a substantial period of business growth.
In this vital role, you will assist the senior management team in delivering passive fire protection services, in the commercial and residential sectors. The position pays a salary of £35,000 – £45,000 per annum (based on experience) + uncapped bonus +
pension scheme + non-contributory private medical scheme.
Job specification
In this role as Estimator/Surveyor you will be responsible for handling customer enquiries, arranging/carrying out site surveys and collating information
required for tendering/quoting. You will also:
Carry out site visits and maintain customer engagement to gather essential project information for correct pricing of works
Assess tender requirements and provide information to commercial team
Undertake take-offs and complete bills of quantities, formulate estimate sheets, priced SOW, quotations and qualifications
Source costs for suppliers and sub-contractors cost management
Provide clear and concise quotations to clients within the agreed timescales
Carry out background research with product suppliers to ensure the most cost-effective, compliant and appropriate products solutions are provided to clients
Followup on quotations with clients to clarify queries/questions
Facilitate smooth handover of secured projects to the operational management team
Where required produce schedules of work for projects and support the operational teams to ensure correct resources are allocated
Keep abreast of changes in legislation and implement accordingly
Ensure record-keeping systems are maintained in line with expected company and 3rd party accreditation practices and standards
Attend corporate events on behalf of the company Person specification
You should have at least 2-3 years of experience in Passive Fire Protection (preferably) or construction-related disciplines as well as a proven track record of managing a number of projects simultaneously and working within tight timescales to deliver successful outcomes and high customer satisfaction on projects. As such you:
Have a working knowledge of BORIS (or equivalent systems)
Are able to read technical specifications and drawings in order to extract and interpret relevant information required for the preparation of cost-effective and compliant tenders/quotations
Are highly self-motivated
Able to work with a high degree of autonomy
Are enthusiastic, energetic, self-disciplined and organised
Possess excellent interpersonal skills and an effective communicator.
Are able to demonstrate excellent written, telephony and face to face communication skills
Have excellent computer literacy skills using email, MS Office and MS project management programs
Have a full driving licence A degree in a technical discipline is seen as an advantage for this role.
