Salary: Salary £41,000 – £43,000 depending on skills and experience, plus excellent benefits

Our Corporate Plan sets ambitious targets for us to reduce the environmental impact of our business and to commence a major investment programme to reduce and eventually eliminate the impact of CO2 emissions of the 15,000 homes which we own or manage across the counties of Beds, Herts and Bucks.
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Lead to develop our Environmental Sustainability Strategy. The ideal candidate will be able to show us their experience of organising and mobilising business commitment to greater sustainability, and delivery of measurable impacts.
You will be able to work at a strategic and a project level and to some degree an operational level. You will understand and communicate what our business needs to do over the medium term; engaging meaningfully with directors, managers and staff across the business to embed this understanding, and you will take practical steps to improve our sustainability performance.
You will keep the organisation up to date on the sustainability agenda, informing and educating on new legislation. Understanding and securing opportunities to work with our stakeholders and partners, applying for funding, and developing engagement projects with our customers to ensure a holistic approach.
Successful in this role will be dependent on your knowledge and previous experience of developing a sustainability strategy with specific goals. You will also ideally have an understanding of sustainability issues within the residential sector however this is not essential.
This role also requires the following skills:

Post-secondary/High school education with degree (or equivalent qualification)

Experience of carrying out a similar specialist role in a corporate sustainability function
*
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
*
The ability to motivate and engage with a wide variety of people to change their behaviour and to communicate and build understanding about the importance of environmental change and how about the importance of each and everyone’s contribution.

Experience of designing and setting up systems and processes for managing strategic programmes
*
Ability to research complex topics and communicate findings in an easy to understand and engaging format, including presentations
