Design Manager
Our client is an established package contractor active on a number of projects across Mainland Europe.
This organisation is currently delivering sizeable sub-contract packages including, concrete flooring, roofing, external envelope & partitioning, ceilings and general Interior fit-out packages, primarily on large-scale data centre & pharmaceutical schemes.
Due to continued growth and expansion our client is now seeking an experienced Design Manager to join the team based from their Hertfordshire / Bucks Head office
Reporting into the Head of Design, the successful candidate will be required to act as the main point of contact for those working on the assigned projects. Managing, coaching, and training as required whilst maintaining the overall people performance and efficiency. They will be the point of contact for the Head of Design in relation to the current project status, whilst supporting clients.
Responsibilities to Include:
* Develop and implement successful design strategies, outlining how the design team will create deliverables and implement them for the project.
* Manage the relevant architectural technicians, drawing coordinators and structural engineers by evaluating individual design deliverables whilst monitoring the overall team performance.
* Provide feedback where required to ensure team members are aligned to the same objectives throughout the entirety of a project.
* Collaborate and work collectively alongside the Estimating and Commercial departments to ensure alignment with costing and the client’s requirements.
* Present design strategies and final technical submissions and drawings to the Head of Design and upper management.
* Advising on the selection of materials used and other aspects require to support the procurement team working alongside the Senior Technical Buyers.
* Manage the entire process relating to the specific projects design to ensure that it is delivered to schedule and budget, working alongside the Commercial department for costing input (QS, Project Directors, and other key members of the relevant Operations pod).
* Conduct financial, technical, and operational risk assessments and advising on the risks, opportunities, and potential hazards of a project to the relevant upper management and HSEQ Managers.
* Lead and provide a professional and sustainable design service for clients at bid and delivery stages.
Ideal Experience (but not essential):
* Experience working with the Data Centre Sector
* Experience with bidding and winning work.
* Previous experience using the following systems: AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam (all three not requirement, but desirable. Must have AutoCAD & Revit)
* Knowledge of internal cost tracking systems.
