Bridge Recruitment’s client, a major Structural Steel contractor based in Bedfordshire are seeking an experienced Design Coordinator / Project Manager. Our client offers a full service of Design/Manufacturing/Fabrication/Project Management/ Install and aftercare.
This is a dual role overseeing the entire construction process from start to finish, working as a team of 4 managing 3 Draughts people reporting directly to the Contracts Director. You must have a strong understanding of Residential build regulation. You will be the key contact between the developer, Architect and in-house design team. You will be working closely with all departments so that to ensure building regulation and design is met.
Once the project starts you will then oversee full Project Management working closely with a dedicated Site Manager.
The client’s project range between 2M-6M and you will overseer 2-3 projects a year. This predominantly an office based role but you will spend at least 20% of your time on site with the majority of the projects being based in London.
The ideal candidate will be degree educated and has progressed via a construction role. You will have at least 3 years design experience including building regulation and design packs. You will ideally come from a construction or an engineering/manufacturing background.
You will have at least 2 years Project management experience. Ideally you will be familiar with Structural Steel and Balconies/Balustrades is highly advantageous but full training will be provided for the right candidate.
A strong mathematical, communication (written and verbal) IT, and commercial mind-set is required.
Technical coordination –
* Examine Architects and Consultants design concepts
* Scrutinize and fully understand the design requirements within the Contract
* Develop compliant design details that are efficient and economical in terms of :-
* Design for manufacture’ – tailored to suit the skillsets of the manufacturing
* Workforce and the specific capabilities of the machinery at manufacturing & Finishing facility
* ‘Design for assembly and installation’ ; to allow safe, quick and efficient assembly and
* installation – minimizing time on site and reducing risk
* Clearly communicate the above information and details to the draughtsman’s teams
* Direct and manage the draughtsmen in the production of General arrangement and
* fabrication drawings and details
* Represent at design workshops with the clients team
* Manage the approval process
* Actively manage the production of the above design information to meet key dates within the contract programme and companies project tracker
* Strong understanding of MS Office, AutoCAD & Telka is desirable.
Projects planning –
* Scrutinize and fully understand the programme requirements within the Contract
* Generate and fully populate the firms Project Tracker encompassing all activities from ‘cradle to grave’
* Schedule, plan, monitor, track and most importantly influence, all contract activities from Contract award through to installation and client handover
* Actively manage the progression of the following processes on multiple Projects :- Design; Release to production; Procurement; Manufacture; Finishing; Assembly; Installation
* Represent company at Progress meetings with the clients team
* Ensure projects are delivered on time
* Ensure projects are compliant with the contract brief
* Ensure projects are delivered within the agreed budget
Flexible working times are available but you will be working a 40 hour week Monday to Friday.
20 days holiday plus bank holidays but an additional 10 days for ongoing service over time.
Company pension and a company vehicle or vehicle allowance.
Full travel to site and meetings included, along with accommodation when required, covered by client.
Paying an annual salary of £45,000 – £50,000 and immediate start for the right candidate.
