Design Coordinator
On behalf of a highly successful main contractor who is experiencing a remarkable work winning period, we are keen to speak with Design Coordinators to join the team working on a diverse range of £multi-million projects. This is an opportunity to be involved in some landmark projects across the northern home counties (Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northants and across to Cambridge in the East) in the R&D, Commercial, Automotive, Industrial, Education and Health sectors.
We are looking for design professionals who will be responsible for the day to day design development and coordination with a main focus on the management of process and information to ensure a coordinated and coherent design is achieved. The role will require the successful candidate to provide technical advice, guidance and support which will act as a design interface both internally and externally to ensure the design criteria and process is provided to our construction sites.
Working alongside a Senior Design Manager, duties will include:
Ensuring Building Regulations are met within the design process
Ensuring designs are compliant with Planning Conditions placed on the project
Ensuring the internal drawing management process is met
Collating and organising technical building information from the Architect, Structural/Civil Engineer and M&E designers
Investigating and offering technical advice on factors that affect building projects
Monitoring designs for Health and Safety and contributing to risk assessments
Coordinating detailed design information
Preparing specifications for construction work
Coordinating the Design Team in the preparation of conceptual drawings
Chairing Design Team meetings with Architects, Structural Engineers and Consultants. Contributing to meetings and document preparation
Researching new design processes, building legislation and technology
Ensure timely, presentable, consistent and high level of quality design information both internally and externally
Good working knowledge of building standards such as RIBA, BREEAM etc.
Ensuring that the Design Team coordinate and follow-up with the Client prior and during project execution
Ensuring that the Design Team coordinate and follow-up with estimation, coordination, and site installation managers
Support the delivery team in project delivery
Requirements
Relevant construction qualification (eg BA Architecture, BSc AEDM or BTEC/HNC Construction Management
Main contractor background
Previous experience within the construction sector is essential
Strong IT Skills
Ability to build good relationships with external and internal stakeholders
