About the role
This is a permanent full time (37 hrs p/w Mon-Fri) role for an experienced Design and Quality Manager (Pre-Contract) to join our Design and Quality Team within the Development Directorate on a permanent Contract.
This is a new role created recognising the need for a dedicated technical role at pre-contract stage for our growing pipeline of S106 as well as land and package deals.
As Design and Quality Manager (Pre-Contract), you will be an integral member of a team of 6, reporting to the Head of Design and Quality and working alongside our Land and New Business Team to provide design and quality support from inception through to hand over to the delivery team on S106, land led and package deals.
Leading the review and/or commission of technical reports necessary, including setting the scope of works and services of the professional design team. Manage a multi-disciplinary professional design team focussed on quality of design and place as well as build.
Undertaking relevant technical due diligence, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring schemes meet Paradigm Housing Group’s design and quality standards, clearly identifying any divergence.
Manage our established frameworks of Principal Designers (PD) and Clerk of Works (COW) and appoint other consultants as required.
Where appropriate, manage the design and specification of new homes so as to represent good value for money in terms of their capital costs and lifecycle costs ensuring quality in design, place, and build.
You will be liaising with external housebuilders, Developers, contractors, and consultants; customers and colleagues within Paradigm, Homes England, GLA; and Local Authority partners
About you
We are looking for someone who is thorough, organised, and methodical, with a sound understanding and experience of commercial viability in projects and a value and solutions driven approach to work. With demonstrable experience and ability to carry out due diligence and technical appraisals, demonstrating adherence to best practice as defined by company processes and procedures to join the team.
You should be able to visit site where required as part of the role and attend meetings with other relevant parties involved in a project.
Working via a mixture of office, remote and homeworking, you will actively participate in pre-construction meetings as required liaising with internal and external stakeholders in ensuring that schemes meet Paradigm’s standards and requirements.
Our ideal candidate has:
Recognized qualification in the built environment to degree or HND and above
Membership of relevant professional body such as: ICE, IStructE, RICS, CIBSE, or RIBA
A sound understanding of the design process, project technical requirements and overall development process
A sound understanding and experience of commercial viability in projects and a value and solutions driven approach to work
Ability to review scheme designs against Paradigm’s Design Standards, Homes England and other relevant regulations and standards
Significant and proven experience of building construction both theoretical and practical
Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and technical warranty standards
Minimum of IOSH Managing Health & Safety qualification or equivalent
Strong communication and influencing skills
