My client a prestigious maint contractor are in the market for an ambitious Assistant Quantity surveyor to start work in the new year based out of their head office in Northampton.
1. The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years post graduate experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying Role.
2. Key Responsibilities
To provide quantity surveying support to the construction team, obtaining tenders, budgeting, managing projects, liaising with clients and suppliers.
3. Key Objective
a) To maintain a high level of commercial awareness, communication and to work within a small team to deliver excellent customer service.
b) To be able to work under pressure, be commercially aware and be confident in liaising with clients and suppliers, be organized and able to manage projects with support from the Lead QS.
c) Ensure that projects stay within budget and maximize the profit margin.
4. General Responsibilities
a) To be a key part of the site team carrying out the Quantity Surveying role including but not limited to:-
a. Preparing contract documents.
b. Procurement of Subcontract and Supply packages.
c. Assess applications and make payments.
d. Measure from drawings to produce bills of quantities (builders quants) and schedule materials.
e. Client liaison including regular meetings.
f. Produce the Contractors Monthly Report.
g. Calculate variations and submission.
h. Submitting monthly Cost/Value Reconciliations
b) To fulfil the design coordinators role on simple projects including organizing and chairing Design Team Meetings. Ensuring that the project meets the current Building Regulations standards and BREEAM if necessary. Involvement in post Planning issues such as the discharge of Planning Conditions.
c) To assist with the Estimating role.
d) To be involved with the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality [SHEQ] aspects of the project liaising with the Health and Safety Manager.
e) Procuring and delivering STATS (Water, Gas, Electricity etc.) for the project.
f) Special projects such as renewable energy research.
5. Training
a) Continuous Professional Development opportunities will be offered to maintain and further your credentials.
6. Personal Protective Equipment
a) Personal Protective Equipment will be provided free of charge to be maintained and looked after by the employee.
