Assistant Design and Engineering Manager – Milton Keynes

We currently have an exciting project to work on one of the flagship construction projects that is happening in the UK today. Our client is a joint venture, bringing together the market leading expertise of four of the largest and most successful contractors operating in the UK, who are working together to deliver one of Europe’s latest high-speed rail projects.

They have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high speed rail link. The scope of the works includes 15 viaducts, 5km of green tunnels, 22km of road diversions, 67 overbridges and around 30 million cubic metres of excavation.
Supporting the Design and Engineering Manager you will assist in the delivery of the design and build, be responsible for the daily management and coordination of the design and coordinate reviews or checks of the design as required by third parties. Ensuring coordination of all design and assurance deliverables with interfacing organisations.

Maintaining close liaison and collaboration with HS2 technical team as required, you’ll establish regular meeting and reporting cycles for managing, coordinating and assuring the Design. In the construction stage, you’ll need to manage and coordinate Design related queries and changes. Confirming with the Designer a procedure for the provision of Red Line/As-Built information required to produce the As-built.

Experience:

• Experience working on the design of Civil Engineering projects (Highways, Earthworks, Heavy Civils schemes desirable)
• Degree educated in Civil Engineering or similar
• Experience working for a Civil Engineering contractor
• Experience working in a similar role
• Able to commute to Milton Keynes

• £40,000 – £50,000 basic salary (based on experience)
