Remuneration: £1800 per PAR assessment/ £30 per hour for other work.
We are looking for an experienced Sessional Social Worker to join an exceptional adoption team based in Milton Keynes. Our client is a specialist adoption agency providing a range of services to those linked to adoption. Being a registered charity for 150 years, they are trusted with supporting the most vulnerable children in society.
As a Sessional Social Worker, you will be required to undertake the initial interviews with prospective adopters and assess and prepare parents for children with a wide range of needs through home study and group preparation training. You will be required to undertake PAR assessments, and support adopters through the family finding, matching and placement process to adoption order.
Key tasks of the Role:
To hold case responsibility and manage a caseload.
To maintain accurate and up to date records and ensure that data is collected and maintained in line with the Society's management information requirements, ALB, Ofsted and CVAA reporting requirements and to use and develop further processes for monitoring and evaluating services.
To analyse complex information gathered as part of the assessment process, prepare high quality reports and present to the Society's Adoption Panel and Local Authority Adoption Panels.
To provide a supportive role to prospective adoptive parents who are waiting, during the placement, and post adoption order.
To facilitate the family finding and matching of children with potential permanent parents.
To attend planning meetings and reviews of children placed for adoption and post adoption.
To prepare court reports and attend court hearings where required.
To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in adoption & its legislations.
To play a part in communicating the work of the agency & promoting an understanding of the agency's role within the wider community.
Maintain & develop continuous professional competence & training needs.
Essential Requirements for the Role:
Social Work Qualification- DIPSW/ CQSW.
Registration with the HCPC
Work within the context of Statutory or Voluntary Child Care Agency.
Knowledge of Child Care & Adoption legislation.
An understanding of the lifelong impact of adoption on adopted people & families.
Fully conversant with & able to apply safeguarding procedures in all aspects of service delivery.
Anti-Discriminatory & non-oppressive practice.
Theories & techniques in communicating with children & knowledge of Child Development.
Ability to produce accurate records to a high standard & to understand the legal implication of recording practice.
Able to analyse complex information & compile high quality evidence-based reports.
A willingness to work irregular hours and cover a wide geographical area.
Valid clean UK driving licence.
Desirable Requirements for the Role:
Completion of further professional training.
Inter-Agency adoption work.
Experience of adoption assessments & preparation group work.
Direct work with children including preparing children for permanence & supporting them in placement.
Post qualifying experience, including childcare & family placement responsibilities.
Work in both statutory & voluntary sectors.
