Coeliac UK currently has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Commercial Services to join our senior management team based in High Wycombe with the possibility to regularly work from home by prior agreement with your line manager. You will join us on a permanent, full-time basis working 35hrs per week. In return you will receive a competitive salary of Circa £50,000 per annum plus 36 days holiday a year including bank holidays.

The Director of Commercial Services role:

You will lead the charity in the strategic development and operational delivery of commercial services and expanding income to enable the charity to grow reach and impact.  You will need to optimise the revenue from existing income streams as well as develop new and innovative ways to bring in revenue to the charity. This will primarily come from the food industry and there may be opportunities to develop income streams from other sources such as the health sector.

Key responsibilities of the Director of Commercial Services:

– Working as part of the senior management team to develop plans and budgets

– Leading the Commercial team to develop and implement a commercial income strategy including new products and services, full exploitation of existing products, combined with customer acquisition and retention

– Leading the development of Account Management approach to commercial clients and own the business relationships with key commercial partners

– Identifying and developing new business opportunities for the charity creating robust business cases and resource plan to support proposals

– Working with the Commercial team and across the organisation to lead the development and management of gluten free licensing, accreditation and training services, and other schemes/services aimed at the food sector

– Delivering pitches and close deals in pursuit of income generation

– Leading and managing your team to deliver against plan and budget, and maximise their potential

– Managing staff and the strategy against the charity’s policies and values

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required for the Director of Commercial Services:

– A business development background and/or with direct experience of income generating activity derived from the sale of products and services in the private or not for profit sectors

– Strategic thinker and implementer with the ability to analyse data and draw meaningful conclusions. Must have the skills and experience to translate plans to practical reality

– Evidence of building and maintaining long-term strategic partnerships

– Experience of working with caterers, retailers or food manufacturers would be an advantage

– Able to give compelling presentations, pitches, and close deals

– An understanding of marketing or experience of working with marketing specialists and of operating various and different sales approaches

– Ability to build and develop effective long-term relationships with partners, stakeholders and staff

– Digitally and data savvy with experience of CRM tools and methods

– Excellent planning, project management and budgeting skills. Must be a “starter” and a “finisher”

– Educated to degree level or equivalent with high levels of numeracy and literacy

– Accountable for projects or programmes involving multi-functional teams. Impact is on functional organisation unit or costs/expenses
