Job Title: Charity Project Coordinator (for young people with mental health/ emotional needs)
Location: Milton Keynes

Hours: 25 hours per week
Following receipt of strategic funding, you will manage the launch and development of our Affirm mentoring and support hub in Milton Keynes, working with 15 young people (aged 17 to 25) with mental health and emotional needs. This is a great opportunity to help take forward an exciting and ambitious young charity and to further develop your record of achievement, by being part of an innovative project.
Working with the NHS and CAMHS, schools, colleges, local authorities and employers, you will manage and support a team of around 30 volunteer mentors. You will support young people through a two-year transition support programme, helping them to make an effective journey towards positive mental health and adulthood.
Our Project Coordinator will have experience of working with people suffering with mental health issues and young people. Organisation, communication and a can-do attitude are essential attributes for this role. Developing stronger links with partner agencies, businesses and the wider community to create opportunities for our youth are key.
Key Responsibilities:
*Recruit and effectively train/ lead your volunteers to deliver a high-quality support project to young people with mental health and emotional needs.
*To provide support, mentoring, befriending and activities to our young people.
*Ensure the integrity & effectiveness of volunteer-based circles & clusters of support for young people with mental health and emotional needs.
*Produce programmes, activity plans, brochures and publicity for the charity, working with the rest of the team to engage our young beneficiaries and create, deliver and facilitate activities and workshops.
*Work closely with social services, schools and other referring agencies.
*Develop relationships and partnerships with other charities and local employers and agencies.
*Specifically develop services and activities and opportunities for inclusion, community engagement and personal development.
*Ensure good planning, risk assessment, evaluation and marketing of all activities, together with effective safeguarding procedures are in line with regulatory requirements and our own policies, including safeguarding, social media and health & safety and data protection.
*Run after school and beyond school sessions and activities as the project develops.
*Evaluate and monitor services appropriately.
*Provide timely reports and ensure good administration and record keeping (using MS Dynamics) in line with data protection and other regulations.
Essential:
*Ability to communicate well and establish and build relationships with colleagues, external contacts and young people.
*Empathy/Awareness and understanding of the needs, issues, and concerns of young people.
*Experienced at creating and developing partnerships.
*Actively encourage others and motivating teams.
*Creative and proactive o get things off the ground.
*IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Power-point and Dynamics.
*Can relate to young people aged 13-25 years as well their parent/carers.
*Experience of working with vulnerable and/or challenging young people and their families.
*Experience of managing volunteers and/or managing a team.
*Personal experience of mental health services or similar needs.
*Able to work several evenings per week and occasional weekends.
*Able to provide a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
*A car driver with no more than three points on licence with access to and willingness to use own car.
