Business Intelligence Officer
Aylesbury
Salary £31, 716 Per Annum
Full time – 37 hours per week
Fixed term contract to 31 March 2019

Business Intelligence Officer to help us achieve our vision and goals.
The Role:
This role has a business wide remit to assist the Systems Analyst in ensuring that the existing housing and data reporting systems are up-to date and meet the operational requirements of the business and to aid the business in the reporting, analysis and understanding of this data.
You will work very closely with the Systems Analyst to ensure that the main systems (including the QLx Housing System, Qlikview reporting and Docusign) are working as they should and that the business can extract appropriate and relevant information from these systems
Key Responsibilities
Design and development of business reporting systems; to develop solutions utilising Qlikview (our Business Intelligence software solution), Docusign and SQL.
Writing (sometimes complex) SQL queries against MS SQL Server Databases.
Creating and maintaining the structures necessary for data storage.
Developing our Qlikview Reporting System ensuring it meets our users needs including the set up of new reports and the amendment of existing ones
Loading and extracting data, making data and configuration amendments on all systems following Change Control Procedures.
Developing and using tools for loading/transferring data between different systems, using them to join together different datasets and create new information or to demonstrate investigate patterns.
To assist the Systems Analyst in the design and implementation of back-end views of data within Systems.
Creating workflows and letter / mail merge templates within the main QLx Housing System
Create templates for the Docusign form system
Establishing a good working relationship with customers
Testing and evaluating new technology;
Making minor changes to existing systems as required / requested by users ensuring that the correct Change Control protocols have been followed.
You will be required to work autonomously in order to improve data and have the ability to offer solutions involving large and complex data sets.
You may be called upon to participate in various project related activities and to cover the IT Helpdesk.
The nature of IT means that some activities must occur outside of normal business hours.
Required Skills and Experience:
Essential
Proven ability to use report writing tools (such a Business Objects, Reporting Services and Qlikview) and the ability to apply reasoning and informed logic to the production of reports to ensure that all work generated is appropriate to the request and the desired outcome.
Reporting skills will be accompanied with the ability to use Microsoft Office to a high standard, particularly Excel and Access for the analysis of large datasets.
Sound working knowledge of Structured Query Language and relational databases, including the ability to write and to de-bug complex queries.
Excellent communication and customer services skills
Good planning skills and ability to work to schedule and tight deadlines
Experience of working with staff at all levels, including senior managers, with an appropriate regard for confidentiality.
Good business awareness and a proactive approach to solving business problems.
Good understanding of database administration, including backup and recovery procedures, configuration management and data integrity.
Ability to work as a team member
Self organisational skills
Good record keeping
Desirable
Knowledge of the backend structure of Qlx Housing, Sun Finance and Pimss 4 Community.
Experience of setting up forms in Docusign
Experience of Qlik View.
Degree in relevant subject
Experience of supporting users of IT applications, and of training users in specific software or application skills.
