FRONT OF HOUSE CATERING MANAGER
Full-time permanent position (40 hrs per week)
Reporting to the Operations Director, this fantastic position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Restaurant and Bar team at a busy conference, training and events venue close to Marlow, Buckinghamshire. This role is a senior position within a dynamic and client responsive service-based organisation.
Applicants must have a can-do attitude and a proven track record of delivering seamless customer-focused food service in a busy, multi-site catering operation as they will be leading & motivating a team serving 4 restaurants including the 150 seat functions room.
Personal Licence holders will be viewed favourably but this is not mandatory. However, an eye for detail and a desire for continual improvement are pre-requisites.
The successful applicant will have experience of dealing with both customers and staff in a responsible and confident manner. A positive focused attitude and hard working ethos is essential to ensure that your team have total faith in your abilities.
Summary of primary responsibilities
* Recruiting, training, managing, leading and motivating the restaurant & bar team.
* Ensuring our customers receive courteous, prompt, efficient, and appropriate food and beverage service in all of our restaurant and bars.
* Maintaining and enhancing existing high standards in the Restaurant & Bar areas.
* Maintaining and building solid working relationships with all of our clients.
* Working closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to maintain and build a fantastic catering operation.
* Ensuring that our standards of safety and hygiene remain exceptionally high and without compromise.
* To liaise and communicate with your fellow Heads of Departments, senior personnel and the Operations Director.
* Ordering supplies.
* Producing monthly stocktake reports.
* Dealing with any issues that arise in your department in a proactive and confident manner.
* Working with our Mission Statement and your Departmental Charter to strive to continually raise the bar in your department.
* Maintaining & improving morale & job satisfaction in the department by holding regular monthly team meetings, job chats and annual reviews with your team.
* Attending and positively contributing to Head of Department meetings.
* To work as a pro-active and thinking Duty Manager, assisting the Operations Director and other Heads of Department with the management & running of the entire Centre and not only the restaurant and bars.

* Demonstrate previous experience in managing a similar environment.
* Strong administration and organisational skills.
* Excellent presentation skills.
* Ability to work effectively on own initiative and without supervision
* Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, with colleagues, suppliers and customers.
* Good software skills, ability to work with computerized systems.
* Excellent team leader and team building skills required.
Remuneration
Negotiable – £30,000 to £34,000 per annum depending on experience.
Hours of work
This is a senior full time role and not one for a clock watcher – however, we do have an ethos of our staff enjoying a balanced life around reasonable working hours. Weekend work is expected in order to meet the above objectives.
