Transport Planner

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, 8am to 8pm
Based on a 42 hours week

Location: Bletchley, Milton Keynes

Salary: £30,000

Responsibilities:
– Arrange the delivery of customers' products, ensuring full and on time delivery
– Using the most cost effective means possible and best use of available resources
– Plan all relevant customer deliveries utilising the software available at site to ensure delivery windows are met
– Liaise with Drivers & Customers in relation to delays and possible issues with deliveries
– Develop back haul lanes with both depots and 3rd party customers whilst maintaining fleet utilisation
– Sourcing drivers, contacting local agencies as and when required (in conjunction to a PSL) providing an accurate brief for jobs required
– Source local Sub-Contractors as and when required
– Complete a late load report in line with operational requirements and deadlines
– Ensure loads meet safety standards
– Manage Drivers ensuring start times are adhered to
– Pre-Briefing Drivers to ensure they fully understand their instructions for each job
– De-Brief Drivers when they return, ensuring all documentation has been completed correctly
– Download Driver Cards for Analysis
– Maximising the utilisation of the Fleet through efficient planning of deliveries and collections
– Complying with Transport Legislation and Health & Safety
– Manage WTD Compliance
– Comply with all Transport Legislation, reducing Tachograph infringements to below the company target and adhering to WTD regulations

– Have current knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation
– Have new and bright ideas to Continuous Improvements
– Have Excellent IT & Admin skills
– Knowledge of Health & Safety
– Commercial understanding
– Good Geographical knowledge
– Knowledge of transport systems
– Good communication skills

– Able to work well under pressure
