Materials / Sealing Engineer required on a contract basis to join an industry leading engineering and manufacturing business.
You will support the delivery of components relating to Sealing & Joining functionalities. Working within a dedicated team to deliver exciting battery technology projects!
Currently this role is 100% working remotely but candidates will be expected to be onsite once every fortnight. During the prototype building phase of the project you will be required to be onsite more regularly
Key responsibilities:
Responsible for battery product material compliance & support material related issues.
Ensure a robust design and compatibility of materials, sealing & joining with other subsystems and components.
The role will require an understanding of physical, informational, electrical & material interactions between components.
Dissect customer & program requirements into component based quantitative targets & robust designs in order to meet functional requirements.
Participate in development of DFMEA, Engineering Specifications, Standards, Design Rules & Guidelines, Requirements, Statement of Work process/documents.
Investigate failures related to sealing, joining & materials to aid root cause analyses
Coordinate any relevant engineering trials, tests & analyses pertaining to battery system joints, seals and materialsExperience required:
Strong knowledge of material science.
Experience with joint design (welding/adhesive/bolted joints) and sealing applications
Degree in relevant engineering discipline with proven relevant experience
Expertise in deploying suitable materials & joining technologies to meet system requirements.
Strong people skills and the ability to work individually and in a cross functional team.Experience desired:
Degree in Material Science
Understanding of fundamental mechanical design (DFM, DFA, structural mechanics)
Familiarity with product design life cycle management (PLM)
Experience with battery system solutions and technologies beneficial
