Job Title – Optical Design Engineer

£ 28,000 – £ 35,000 p.a.

Are you a Graduate, perhaps with a year or two's experience in optical design, interested in working on high tech lighting projects for some of the most prestigious automotive manufacturers on the planet? We are looking for a Graduate Optical Design Engineer with a degree and an interest in optical Engineering and automotive, ideally with some relevant experience. Optical Design Engineer responsibilities;

Design and development work for new high tech optical solutions for automotive lighting projects
Prototyping and testing of advanced optical systems using specialist equipment in the company's designated optical R&D test facility
Undergo training from industry experts and gain specialist experience in an incredibly niche are of optical and automotive engineering.
Develop and gain more project responsibly until you eventually run your own individual customer projects
Direct involvement on projects with many of the world's most exclusive vehicle manufacturers
Occasional international travel is expected as part of the role

An exciting opportunity for an Optical Design Engineer with the following;Degree in Physics or related Engineering subject, combined with an interest in optical systems and automotive engineering

Experience with Ray-tracing software like ASAP or Zemax
Understanding of Test methodologies for optical systems and Ray-Tracing methods for design and prediction of optical behaviour
Understanding incoherent lighting system design and materials used in: Reflectors, Lenses and Filters
Understanding of Photometric and Radiometric system units/conversions and Colorimetric behaviour of components
