Lead Developer – Milton Keynes

This is a Fixed Term Contract for 12 months.

A a Lead Developer, you will lead a team to develop and enhance software solutions for the Inchcape business.

Main Responsibilities

* The role is firmly hands-on, requiring design, coding and testing activities to be performed

* Also, working with colleagues within the business to determine requirements for systems or changes to existing systems

* Mentoring and supporting junior developers and support staff within the team

* As ‘lead developer’ the role is also one of co-ordination of activities, giving a lead on design, coding and testing activities and taking responsibility for the team’s output

* Provide cost and time estimates for software development tasks

* Close liaison with the Software Development Manager with respect to requirements analysis, software design, progress against plans, etc

* Analyse new requirements and change requests from the business

* Design, code and test software as specified

* Deploy solutions into test and live environments

* Provide 2nd- and 3rd-line application support where required for developed applications

The Ideal Candidate

* Appreciation of the full software development life cycle across full-stack

* Close attention to detail

* Good analytical and problem-solving skills

* Excellent coding and debugging skills

* Commercially aware

* Proficient in software development using the Microsoft .NET environment, notably C#

* Ability to pick up different technologies quickly

* Competent with Microsoft SQL Server databases (DBA skills not required)

* Experience in Microsoft C#, .NET Framework, Microsoft .NET Core, HTML, XML, Json, JavaScript

* Experience of MVC, ASP.NET, Json and SOAP web services, Swagger, jQuery, automated testing, Git/Mercurial or JIRA would be an advantage

* Understanding of high-level and object-oriented design methodologies

* Able to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally

* Able to communicate in non-technical terms to business colleagues

* Experience leading a team of .NET developers.

* Able to provide a lead in design, coding and testing activities to other developers

* Comfortable working to software development standards and following good software development practice
