The Role of Health & Safety Manager
Responsibility for the Health and Safety of all staff, agency workers, contractors, external contractors, freelance drivers and service crew. In addition, all practical matters relating to the safe and efficient running of the depot, offices and workshops with particular reference to risk assessments, safe systems of work, signage, vehicle movements and depot housekeeping and documentation.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Depot/Builds/Contract Maintenance/Legal Compliance/Operations Health & Safety risk assessments and documentation, e.g., DSE Assessments, accident book, first aid supplies, fire drills, risk assessments understood and signed, COSHH, LOLER, PUWER up-to-date, etc.
* New worker inductions and keeping records of training, occupational health questionnaires.
* Identifying all hazards and reducing the risks they impose
* To ensure the Company meets all statutory and environmental regulations, particularly in regard to dangerous substances and waste, i.e., COSHH, Waste Carriers Licence, F-Gas Certification, medicals for sprayers and night workers, etc.
* Development, implementation and enforcement of depot policies, processes and procedures
* Responsible for contractors on site, that they adhere to H&S and have their risk assessments and insurances in order
* Compiling reports and evidence for our insurers where there is a likelihood of a personal injury claim against the Company
* Responsible for depot security
* Keeping abreast of legal changes and HSE guidance
* Work closely with the Company’s Health & Safety Consultant
* Provide relevant H&S documentation to clients on request
* Ensuring vehicles contain all necessary H&S equipment, first aid kits and fire extinguishers
