Graduate/Junior Design Engineer

Milton Keynes

Our Client is a successful Tier 1 automotive supplier. Working from their World Class facility the selected candidate will work as part of the team responsible for design, prototyping and testing of optical systems for automotive lighting projects. Through training and experience gained, the role will develop to full responsibility for individual projects.

Direct involvement in the project at every level from customer, (many of the world's most exclusive vehicle manufacturers), to supplier with occasional travel abroad is expected as part of the role.

Skills & Experience Required:

* Degree, HND level or equivalent qualification in Physics or related Engineering course.

* Graduates with studies in optical systems/lighting may apply following completing University or alternatively Graduates without would ideally need 1-2 years Design Engineering experience.

* Strong mathematical abilities.

* Good team working, communication and problem-solving skills.

* Good computer skills including Microsoft Office

* Experience of working within CAD packages e.g. Rhino 3D, SolidWorks, Catia

* Excellent attention to detail.

Preferred:

* Knowledge or experience of electrical and thermal characteristics of LEDs

* Experience with ray-tracing software e.g. Lucidshape, ASAP, Zemax

* Knowledge of Photo-realistic rendering for visualisation of optical designs

* Basic understanding of C++ & VBA

* Hands-on technical skills for building and testing prototype lighting systems.

* Experience of working alongside mechanical engineers to understand packaging and manufacturing constraints.
