Design Engineer required on a contract basis to join an industry leading engineering and manufacturing business.
This position offers the opportunity to create optimized design concepts and mechanical design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, reliability, durability, manufacturing, assembly, and serviceability.
You will lead design and development for engineering assignments including products, parts, components, systems or portions of major projects.
Currently this role is 100% working remotely but candidates will be expected to be onsite once every fortnight.
Key responsibilities:
Develops fit-for-purpose concepts for battery products and provides technical advice for RFI/RFQ activities for the technical function
Supports product planning support and provides technical input for future roadmaps and technology development plans
Supports cross-program strategic continuity of design
Understands and employs the fundamentals of mechanical, thermal and electrical battery design
Run fit-for-purpose battery attribute analysis and apply knowledge & application of analytical tools
Applies processes such Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, Failure Incident Review Group (FIRG) and tools such as 7-step problem solving to enable high quality decision making in concept developmentExperience required:
Degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent progressive experience in a similar role.
CAD design experience ideally Creo (other CAD systems also considered depending on experience)
Working experience with Battery Systems / Electrification
Understanding of fundamental design principles & toolsets (DFM, DFA, DFMEA, design in context)
Familiarity with product design life cycle management (PLM) – particularly in concept development
Self-motivation, time management and proactive prioritisation essential
