Senior Gardener (Live out)
Our client is looking to recruit a full-time Senior Gardener to play a key role in the management and development of a stunning garden set in a private estate 3 miles from Buckingham, due to the retirement of the previous incumbent.
The gardens are set within an historic deer park. Around the house there are 5 acres of formal gardens with ponds, mixed boarders, lawns, a kitchen garden and glass houses. The garden then spreads out to include a small vineyard, fruit trees, a woodland garden, lakes, and a wildflower meadow, with mature and specimen trees throughout, covering over 32 acres in all.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of the garden and supervision of the undergardener.
They will work closely with the owner to develop a vision for the future and bring it to life. They may also be required to work with the wider estate team on larger projects where necessary.
Applicants must be excellent communicators and be enthusiastic and adventurous in their outlook.
Experience in all areas of garden management is essential:
Plant identification
Propagation
Glasshouse work
Kitchen Gardening
Project & Design management
Operation and basic maintenance of a range of garden machinery
Formal qualifications are not essential, but the ideal applicant would be academically qualified to RHS Level 2, as well as having spray and chainsaw certification.
Those without though will be considered.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced gardener to progress their career by moving into a senior role.
They would be joining a friendly team on a developing and varied estate.
